James is professional and the quality of his work is excellent. He is easy to work with. I made several changes and James offered some suggestions as
well throughout the project. I highly recommend JCB Carpentry.
James was able to make it a day after initial contact. He gave a clear run down of the plan, then emailed a detailed quote that evening. He was out doing the work himself in two days. Extra work was needed in the substructure of an awning. He explained clearly what else was needed, adjusted the quote reasonably, and got the extra work done in the allotted time. He was pleasant and professional the whole time, explaining all the design choices he made from type of wood to slight changes in the trim. He came out on a Sunday afternoon to finish the job promptly. He showed respect and careful work on an older house with character. His work was good quality and done promptly and quickly.
Everything went really well with this experience. James tiled the floor of our wine room and also completed a stone accent wall for us. He put together customized wine racking to finish the room by giving it a really custom look. He created custom matching trim for this room and installed some custom artwork we had done. James helped us use stock-size cabinets to build into a custom bench seating area that looks fabulous! He put up crown molding throughout the basement and hung/painted all doors. He also built stunning trim for all of the windows. James put down laminate flooring in all of the closets and primed and painted the entire basement including multiple rooms with various colors of paint. The bathroom is the piece de resistance – everyone thinks it is just amazing when they see it! He did all of the custom tile work including the floors, walls, and a shower that includes bench seating and inset shelving. He installed the fixtures, the vanity, and the mirror. He also built custom shelving by the shower as requested.
My biggest goal of the project was to create a space that really matched our personality and style and was unique […]. Everything definitely has the WOW factor and much of that was done by James. Not only was he easy to work with, but he put so much personal attention into it. Knowing how picky I was about flaws in certain pieces of tile or coloring that was a little bit off, he spent so much time really making sure that the best pieces were on display and he and quot;hidand quot; the ones that weren’t as preferable. I really appreciated this because he wasn’t just doing the labor; he really took it personally on his behalf to make sure that it was perfect for us. Once the job was completed, he also checked in with us and told us to put together a list if there was anything else that we noticed that wasn’t to our liking or needed to be updated. Everything looks great, but just the fact that he offered us time to really “live” in the space and see if we noticed anything really goes a long way with me. James will be the first call that I will make for the ongoing projects that homeowners continue to have. He is easy to work with and very conscientious about his work quality.
James started on Monday and was done on Saturday. [The deck] was installed over a concrete patio. He was always on time and cleaned up his mess. He is very knowledgeable. I will use him again.
James did an excellent job framing our basement. He was extremely helpful in getting us a list of materials needed and gave us the option of getting the materials ourselves or having him purchase them for us. He went with my husband to Home Depot a few times to ensure that we got quality goods. He was very professional and friendly to work with. We were hesitant about how to build out one area in our bathroom and James was very patient in setting the walls out to model what it would look like so that we were comfortable on the placement of a shower wall. We had to schedule our plumber and electrician to come in during some of the framing and James was great in working around them even though the situation was not ideal. He worked with us as we made some adjustments during the process and was very flexible. James takes great pride in his work and does a quality job. As with any construction project, different issues will come up along the way. It seems as though he is always calm, always smiling and willing to work with us on any issues or changes that needed to be made […]. I would recommend him without hesitation.

James rebuilt our front steps, including the replacement two historic railing posts/columns. He replaced the railings to match the existing railing that remained. He then painted the entire porch and railings. He was easy to work with and flexible; he painted accents on the columns and dealt with an old rubble post foundation for no extra charge. We were happy with the work so we had him come back about a month later to paint our first floor. We were also satisfied with that work.
James was very attentive to details and took his time to do high quality work. He does an excellent job and has very competitive rates. I think he is very honest. He will give you ideas if you want but also tries very hard to deliver anything you describe.
James did a wonderful job painting the interior of our home! The work was done quickly and efficiently. James is professional and prompt. He advised us on colors and used top quality paint. All holes or cracks in the walls were repaired before painted over. The work was very cleanly done. James also changed our light fixtures for a very reasonable price. We look forward to working with him on future home remodeling.
The job went well. James understood what I needed, was prompt, worked efficiently, and kept me informed.
James Busack founded JCB Carpentry in 1997 after working with a local carpenter who had built his own business from the ground up. James grew up surrounded by friends and family members who were seasoned builders of everything from cabinetry and furniture to entire homes, which inspired him to pursue carpentry as a career.
James has spent the past 20+ years mastering his craft, honing his skills, and adding to his arsenal of expert carpentry knowledge. Although he can tackle pretty much any project you throw his way, James particularly enjoys building decks, built-ins, and custom kids' furniture.
